Gemini Chapel, Haslemere

A quiet sanctuary in Haslemere

Anam Cara translates from ancient Celtic as 'soul friend.' We gather inside historic stone walls to share unhurried creativity, gentle embodiment, and companionship that honors every season of living.

Community Interest Company

Founded by Eleanor

Eleanor established Anam Cara Creatives to dismantle isolation across Surrey. Having walked through personal loss and community service, she recognized the pressing need for spaces that welcome people exactly as they are without clinical intake procedures or performance demands.

Registered as a Community Interest Company, every circle at Gemini Chapel belongs to our neighborhood. We protect autonomy above all, ensuring participants choose when to create, when to speak, and when to sit quietly with a warm cup.

Our Core Ethos

Grief and creative joy share the same table here, with complete autonomy over your own pace.

We do not assess, grade, or attempt to repair anyone. We hold compassionate ground where active grief is acknowledged alongside laughter, art, and quiet companionship.

The Non-Clinical Difference

Creative practice, not clinical prescription

Traditional therapeutic settings often require clinical diagnoses, intake forms, and defined treatment trajectories. Anam Cara Creatives operates differently: our chapel doors open as a community living room where creative expression serves as a gentle vehicle for personal agency and social warmth.

Whether shaping clay, exploring gentle breathwork, or tending plants in the chapel grounds, facilitators act as companions rather than authorities. You retain full sovereignty over your story, free to share deeply or simply enjoy the company of others working with their hands.
